Closer Than We Think!

Arthur Radebaugh is best known for his art involving florescent paint under black light.
 From 1958 to 1962 he produced the syndicated Sunday comic strip "Closer Than We Think!".

    I remember this feature well. It appeared in one of the Seattle papers.

    I was one of millions of kids who'd been raised on the gospel that all "progress" was cost-free and always worked for the betterment of all. These panels thrilled me; I actually looked forward to seeing them on Sunday.

    Today they seem alternately creepy or ridiculous.
