In 1935, The National Geographic Journal was a far cry from the sensational fare offered today. There wasn't even a cover picture, and color was only used sparingly, in the manner of "color plates" of books.

When I was a kid, Boys Club administrators were glad a bunch of us were always improving our minds by looking at the NatGeos from the 1920s and 1930, but they probably would have been less happy if they knew we were ogling native girls in their natural habitat...if you know what I mean.
