I once sold flower & vegetableseed packets that I got through a comic book ad. No money, of course, but I received a nice reflecting telescope and a huge chemistry set full of things that would probably be illegal today.
In all my years Ralph Vaughan is the first person I ever heard of who had responded to those kid-salesman ads. Are there others in the audience who sold seeds, or religious mottoes, or Cloverine Brand Salve? Or "Grit," for that matter? At least I actually saw an issue of "Grit," in a barbershop in the late 1960s.
