John Ellis, in his introduction to STEVE CANYON:THE COMPLETE SERIES vol one, tells us that Lee Elias, with Ray Bailey, drew Canyon in Harvey's 1951 offerings. I am figuring that the mid 40s work just paralleled Caniff's look because it was so popular. There are worse artists to emulate!!
Some of those drawings, especially the flyers' faces, look like Milton Caniff did them
