I guess we were just as bad as the kids we ridicule today...
...when it comes to common sense . This bit of plastic from 1963 would be $2 in today's money. Not a big waste, but a complete one. The beauty of it is you need to keep buying the candy to make it a rocket :) And what kid isn't gonna keep needing refills? Brilliant marketing!

Comic Book Cover / Splash Page Clones, Part 23
Gil Kane gave us two points of view of pretty much the same moment for The Atom #21 (October-November 1965)
Pretty close to the same moment in time for both the splash and cover to Boy Commandos #4 (Fall 1943), by Kirby and Simon.
|
Checks a go go on this cover G.I. Combat #119 (August-September 1966) by Russ Heath.Reverse action on the splash by Irv Novick
Curt Swan did both the cover and splash, which depict almost the same scene from Star Spangled Comics #72 (September 1947)
Star Spangled Comics #83 (August 1948). Jim Mooney cover and splash.
and here we have a beautiful pair of similar drawings by Winslow Mortimer for Star Spangled Comics #70 (July 1947)
